What does “non-curable cancer” mean?
Non-curable cancer means the cancer cannot be cured, even though treatments may still be ongoing. Many people prefer this language because it is more accurate and less stigmatizing.
Do I need to be finished with treatment to apply?
No. Many individuals we support are actively receiving treatment. Each situation is different, and eligibility is based on medical circumstances rather than treatment status alone.
What kinds of dreams or experiences does Buckit! help with?
Dreams can look very different from person to person. Some people hope for travel or a special getaway, while others are simply looking to create a meaningful moment. There’s no “right size” dream — what matters most is that it feels meaningful to you.
What if I don’t have a big or elaborate wish?
That’s completely okay. Many people aren’t looking for a major trip or large experience. Sometimes a meaningful moment looks like a special dinner and a night out, going bowling with friends, attending a show or the theater, painting together, or spending intentional time doing something enjoyable with the people who matter most. Big or small, what matters is that it feels meaningful to you.
Does Buckit! help families or just individuals?
Our focus is on the individual living with cancer, but experiences often include loved ones if that is part of the dream. We generally support immediate family or close support systems when appropriate.
Is there a cost to apply?
No. Applying to Buckit! is completely free.
How are experiences funded?
Experiences are funded through community donations and fundraising efforts. These funds help remove financial and logistical barriers so individuals can focus on living fully.
How long does the process take?
Timelines vary based on the dream, logistics, and available funding. Because time can be a factor, we work thoughtfully but efficiently once an application is reviewed.
